The topic of a public art gallery and its responsibilities to the community is a topic that deserves a better platform then a quick post. That said it’s something I wonder about frequently especially since it seems the High Museum has been making efforts over the past few years to define its own role within the Atlanta cultural community. My biggest criticism of the museum has been it feels less like the city’s main art gallery and more like a civic center that books every traveling art show available. However this summer looks like it might be pretty exciting , some of the upcoming exhibitions have been curated within the museum. So I propose a field trip! A showcasing of some of the Highs permanent photographs (Point of View: Photographs from the Collection) ends on June 5th and sculptures and works from Radcliffe Bailey (Memory as Medicine) will be on display opening June 26th .
